LINC Youth Basketball Program

The Lawrence Irvin Neighborhood Center winter and spring league basketball program offers area youth in 2nd through 12th grades a chance for competitive play, while the coaches and supervisors serve as role models and mentors. The importance of education and healthy lifestyles is emphasized, as well as educating the youth in the dangers of gang and drug involvement.

Program leaders stay in contact with teachers and encourage behavior that helps students be successful on the basketball court, at school and in life. Individual successes are reflected in those that stay in school and make a positive contribution to the community. Collectively, our community benefits from reduced levels of gang-related violence and drug crime.

AAU Basketball Program

The "Amatuer Athletic Union" offers the top participants in the LINC Basketball League a chance to develop to their highest level through a national and local network of sporting events.

Minority Golf League

Low income minority youth are offered a unique opportunity to learn the game of golf at area golf facilities by positive area role models.

Program Director Dorian "Dodie" Dunson, Sr. is a Bloomington native and grew up playing basketball here." McLean County helped make me the person I am today, and now I try to help the LINC basketball players benefit from the strong roots and community support I had. For me, and for these kids, it's not just about playing basketball- it's about life." (Dodie Dunson, Sr.)
