Survival Program for Youth (SPY)

Program Mission Statement:

"Having a positive impact on our community, one person at a time."

Target Population:

"At-risk" youth having had negative experiences with the law enforcement officers and the criminal justice system.

3 Step Approach:

SPY employees use the 3 Step Approach by meeting with clients and establishing relationships of trust by presenting solutions and alternatives to lessen existing gang involvement and criminal activity

1. Indirect -- Establish relationships with clients through events and activities.

2. Direct-- Initiate contact with individual client usually by referral.

3. Proactive-- Contacting individuals impacted by the at-risk youth as intervention to prevent the larger community from getting involved in negative experiences.
