After School Program

After School Program (Sheridan Elementary School –District 87) – Monday thru Thursday – 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. After school snacks, recreation, reading and tutoring are scheduled four days per week for students in grades K – 5 when school is in session. The program follows the District 87 school calendar.

Teen Camp

Teen Summer Camp is open to 50 at-risk junior students in grades 4-10. Applications are taken in May for the camp that begins in June and concludes in early August.



Basketball

Grade School Basketball Leagues play at Western Avenue for 4th graders – Games are scheduled for Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., & 7:30 p.m. Practices begin in October with scheduled determined by the coaches. Leagues start play in November. All other basketball leagues play at LINC.


     

Outreach and programs for youth in the Western Avenue Community Center neighborhood are important to children and parents.

The following programs are planned for the 2005-2006 school year. Children are invited to join in and participate regularly.

Neighborhood Programs

Exercise After Work:
Low Impact Aerobics from 5:00 – 6:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Western Avenue Community Center gymnasium. $25.00 for a 6 week session.

Children’s Program/Adult Bible Study at The Center
(led by Northside Christian Church) –September 1 thru December 15, 2005 - from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A childrens program runs concurrently with the adult Bible Study every Thursday evening.
